The basic ingredients in ranch dressing are herbs, mustard, spices, salt, garlic, buttermilk, and onions. Commonly used herbs in the making of the ranch are chives, dill, and parsley in which parsley and dill are safe for dogs. Mustard is very toxic to your dog’s health and it quickly upset your dog’s stomach. Buttermilk used in the ranch is fermented milk enriched with different flavors, salt, sugar, and milk. It is always better to avoid buttermilk to prevent health problems. Salt and garlic are also not safe for your dog’s health.
A small amount of ranch is fine for your dog’s health. It doesn’t make any changes to your dog’s health. But the trouble starts when your dogs eat a lot of ranch topping which quickly affects your canine’s health. As the ranch contains garlic and onions, even an accidental lick from your leftovers can hurt their stomach.
