Can cats eat kale?

Kales are popular vegetables and are a part of our day to day diet. Kales are nutritious and contain very few calories. Weight-watchers love this vegetable due to its low calorie levels that help in weight reduction. Kales are rich in fiber, vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals. Fiber is essential as it prevents diseases such as diabetes, heart illnesses, and cancer. However, we should not think that kales are beneficial to our pets, the way they nourish our bodies. It is reasonable to wonder, “Can cats eat kale?” and take safety measures. Read on to know how to handle your dilemma.

Can Cats Eat Kale?

Felines are carnivores. They get their dietary needs from meat. However, cats also enjoy other foods, such as vegetables and fruits. You should not be surprised or worried when you see your cat showing a deep interest in this vegetable. Kales are non-toxic to your cat. Besides, felines require minerals and vitamins the way we do, to stay healthy. Though cats are carnivores, they also need to consume different types of food for healthy bodies.

Kales help your cat regulate its digestion since they are a good source of roughage. The vegetable also prevents indigestion, gas, constipation, bloating, and colon cancer. Kales also keep your kitty in good weight because they are rich in fiber. Fiber aids digestion. A domestic cat eats what it is fed. Therefore, your furball should be fed a well-balanced diet. Mixing these vegetables in their diet will rid your kitty of many health problems.

Conclusion

“Can cats eat kale?” The answer is a clear yes, but caution is key. Kales are more beneficial to humans than cats. A cat’s digestive system differs from ours since cats process meat easier than vegetables. It is good to ensure that their diet contains meat and low amounts of carbohydrates. Adding greens in a few amounts once or twice a week complements your cat’s diet.
